You Must Be Saved - Or Be Willing To Be Saved

Matthew 10:32 - 33 NKJV
(32) "Therefore whoever confesses Me (Jesus Christ) before men, him I will also confess before My Father(YHWH God) who is in heaven. (33) But whoever denies Me (Jesus Christ) before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

Romans 10:8 - 11 NKJV
(8) But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
(9) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.(10) For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.(11) For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."

Before you are baptized you must have accepted Jesus Christ as YOUR personal Lord and Savior. This is the most important thing for any human being! Being saved means that you will be written in the Lamb's Book of Life and that you now have inherited salvation (everlasting life spent with Yahweh God and our savior Jesus Christ).
Being saved is accomplished by doing the following things...

Admitting that you are a sinner and acknowledging that you need a Savior
Acknowledging that Jesus is the son of God and acknowledging Him (Jesus) as your savior and King
Repenting of your sins / asking for forgiveness
Vowing to follow Jesus (following His commandments for your life FOR the remainder of your life).

You Must Openly (publicly) Confess that Jesus Christ is YOUR Lord and Savior!

This may be done out of the water or at the moment you are about to be submerged. Someone will ask you if you have accepted Jesus Christ as YOUR personal savior and Lord.

Old Enough to Understand Your Decision

You Must Be Old Enough To Consciously Decide To Be Baptized:

You cannot be baptized as a baby. A baby does not make conscious decisions for itself, therefore if you were told that you were already baptized as a baby...you were not. You may have been Christened (dedicated by your parents to Christ).
Before you are baptized you will be asked a few questions so that the ones who are baptizing you and the witnesses are sure that you understand what you are doing. Knowing what you are doing and why you are choosing to be baptized is a requirement.
